The tools of regenerative medicine

Leading the charge when it comes to regenerative medicine are mesenchymal stem cells. These incredibly versatile cells have the unique ability to transform into other cells and then multiply indefinitely as that cell.

Mesenchymal stem cells are most potent during embryonic development, which makes sense given that they’re tasked with building a human from the ground up. Through our regenerative medicine, we use mesenchymal cells that are harvested from donor cord tissue from the birth of live full-term babies that are prescreened and preapproved.

We then take these mesenchymal stem cells and inject them into areas where you can use a regenerative boost. When they arrive on the scene, these cells quickly go to work to repair and heal, while also calling upon your own resources to help out.

Another promising tool for healing and repairing your body are platelets. Your platelets are the cells in your blood that are mainly responsible for clotting. But these cells also contain powerful growth factors that play a vital role in your healing process. By isolating and concentrating your platelets, we can redirect them into your damaged tissue to promote long-term healing.

The success of regenerative medicine

To give you an idea about the efficacy of regenerative medicine, a study conducted by the Mayo Clinic on stem cell treatments among 25 patients with bad knees found “dramatic improvements.” Interestingly, researchers injected stem cells into only one of the bad knees, but participants reported improvement in both knees. One hypothesis for this is that the introduced stem cells created a system-wide response that tackled joint pain and inflammation locally as well as in other body parts.
